Fundraising
South Downs RDA is a registered charity and all our running costs are covered entirely by local fundraising. We need to continue this effort year on year, as the small charge we make to each rider in no way covers the true cost of the service we offer.
All our volunteers give their time freely and 100% of the money raised is used to help disabled riders to continue to ride.
The volunteers work very hard to raise funds for a variety of necessities including, rather ambitiously, a hydraulic lift to enable wheelchair users and the heavier disabled riders to mount safely, to replace safety helmets to conform with the latest EU regulations as well as ongoing costs of insurance, use of the indoor riding school etc.
In May 2015, an intrepid band of RDA volunteers tackled a 20km walk on the South Downs and raised nearly £3,000.

Sponsorship
We are continually looking for sponsors. Finding a sponsor would mean that, with a secure income, we could guarantee our riders would be able to continue their invaluable association with horses and ponies.
Our Chairman Carolyn Heitman would be very happy to talk with anyone who might be interested in sponsoring South Downs RDA. Contact Us.
