Welcome to the
South Downs Riding for the Disabled Group website
A member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) based at Albourne Equestrian Centre, Albourne near Hassocks, West Sussex.
Our volunteers, horses and ponies provide therapy, achievement and enjoyment to people with disabilities of all ages and from all backgrounds. We hope to create a sense of increased confidence and above all, a feeling of having a good time. The benefits of riding are plain to see from the faces of the riders. We hope that their lives will be more fulfilled from the experiences that we can give them.
We are one of the longest established groups in the country and are totally reliant on our wonderful volunteers who are the backbone of our team. We are also a completely self-financing charity and therefore have to constantly work hard at raising funds.
If you are interested in becoming involved with our group, be it as a volunteer, sponsor or rider, please get in touch, we are always delighted to welcome new members to our group.
Don’t worry if you don’t have equine experience, we will make the most of the skills you have, there are many ways in which you can help and learn simply by being involved with this exciting and rewarding organisation.
South Downs Riding for the Disabled Group is a Charity Registered in England & Wales (No: 1074099)
